Dallas Bulls flip the script in gritty road win over Louisiana Rouxgaroux
By Andy Martinez
The Dallas Bulls showcased serious grit this weekend with a hard-fought road win over the
Louisiana Rouxgaroux. What started as a rough, uneasy game quickly turned into a momentum
swing that Dallas seized and never gave back.
After picking up their first win last week, the Bulls found themselves in a familiar early hole. With
just over three minutes left in the first half, Dallas trailed 26–14 and looked like they were in
danger of letting the game slip away.
Then everything changed.
The Bulls caught a second wind late in the half. After the offense found the end zone, the
defense delivered a massive response. Following a botched kickoff coverage that pinned them
inside their own 10-yard line, Kearyn Taylor stepped up with a clutch interception and returned it
for a touchdown, completely flipping the game and giving Dallas the lead.
But the moment that truly shifted everything came with just four seconds left before halftime.
Quarterback Samuel Seward launched a Hail Mary, and Harold Brooks came down with it, an
out-of-nowhere touchdown that gave Dallas a stunning 35–26 lead heading into the break.
From there, the Bulls never looked back.
Prayers answered
Seward delivered his most efficient performance of the season, throwing for over 113 yards
while completing 8 of his passes, four of which went for touchdowns. More importantly, he
looked in control, protected the football and let the game come to him.
And when he needed a go-to target, he found one.
The connection between Seward and Harold Brooks was on full display. The 6’4” wideout
caught five passes for 76 yards and three touchdowns, including the momentum-shifting Hail
Mary before halftime. His other 6’4” counterpart, Ladon Hudson, also added two catches for 22
yards and a score.
On the ground, Dajon Richard continues to establish himself as the engine of this offense. He
was once again a force, breaking tackles and grinding out tough yards throughout the game.
Dallas leaned heavily on him during a statement drive in the fourth quarter that drained nearly
ten minutes off the clock. He capped the game off in fitting fashion powering through four
defenders for a punishing touchdown with under a minute left to seal the game.
Defense delivers when it matters
Defensively, Dallas made its presence felt in the moments that mattered most.
Kearyn Taylor was everywhere, finishing with two interceptions—one returned for a
touchdown—but it was the timing of those plays that stood out. Each turnover came at pivotal
moments and helped swing momentum firmly in Dallas’ favor.
Outside of a late “garbage time” score with 39 seconds remaining, the Bulls held Louisiana
scoreless for the entire second half.
That’s the kind of defense that travels.
Where they need to clean it up
As strong as the win was, there are still areas that need tightening.
Ball security remains a concern. The Bulls put the ball on the ground multiple times, including
twice at the 1-yard line, mistakes that are rarely easy to overcome against better teams.
The special teams group also needs attention. Louisiana was able to flip field position several
times on kickoff returns, including a huge touchdown return after Dallas took a commanding
41–26 lead. This is where you’d ideally want to close a team out heading into the fourth quarter,
not breathe life into them.
Why this team is trending up
There’s real momentum building with this group.
Seward is settling in, limiting turnovers, and playing more efficiently. The chemistry between him
and his receivers is clearly growing. And with a back like Dajon Richard, this offense has a
reliable identity they can lean on in any situation.
But what continues to separate this team is the defense.
“Sometimes the best offense is a good defense,
” and right now, that couldn’t be more true for
Dallas. This unit consistently finds ways to create turnovers—and more importantly, they’re
doing it at the exact moments that change games.
What’s next
The Bulls now head into a crucial stretch with a chance to build something real.
They’ll look to cap off their road trip with a three-game win streak. That would require a win
against the Omaha Beef. While Omaha remains winless this season, this has all the makings ofa trap game, especially with a matchup against the undefeated Southwest Kansas Storm
looming the following week.
Focus and execution over the next two weeks will be critical.
Because how Dallas handles this stretch could ultimately shape the rest of their season with key
rematches still ahead against the Spartans, Punishers, and Rouxgaroux.
