Head coach Robert Kent sets the tone for 2026

DALLAS — Robert Kent knows what it takes to win in this city, because he’s already done it in Bulls colors. Now he’s back at Fair Park Coliseum as the Dallas Bulls’ head coach.

“I played with the Bulls, won a championship with the Bulls, brought a championship to the city of Dallas,” Kent said. “Looking forward to the opportunity to do it again.”

Kent’s identity starts on offense. In a game built on pace and points, he wants the ball in the air and the fans on their feet.

“I’m a passer. We like the ball to fly,” he said. “When people come to the games, we want it to be exciting. We want to put points on the board. If you get some popcorn, you may have missed two touchdowns. I want you to be upset that you left.”

As the roster takes shape, Kent says he’s looking for players who combine toughness with awareness in the unique indoor environment.

“Smart, hard-nosed, and a competitor,” he said. “This game is fast-paced, and there’s a wall. If you think you can win against that wall, that wall always wins.”

That “wall” is also the most significant adjustment for players coming from outdoor football. Kent said learning how to catch and move near the boards is the difference between making a play and ending up in the first row.

“If you can’t adjust, that wall will take you out, or you’ll be in this fan’s lap,” he said, noting that the up-close action is part of the arena experience. “You get to keep the ball, come on the field, talk to the players, get autographs.”

For quarterbacks, the indoor game rewards instant decisions.

“Quicker decisions,” Kent said. “You hold the ball, you’re gonna get hit, so it makes you think a whole lot quicker.”

The Bulls open the 2026 season March 7 at Fair Park Coliseum with an international preseason matchup against Team Mexico (7 p.m. kickoff), before the home schedule begins March 14. Tickets are available by clicking here.
